Radiatori is a short, squat, and ridged pasta shape that literally translates to “radiators” in English. It is modelled after old industrial heating fixtures or car radiator grills (some sources specify the Bugatti motor car).

Shape: It has a straight “pipe” or cylindrical body with concentric, parallel, ruffled fins or grooves circling the pasta.
Texture & Function: The unique design creates a large surface area and hollows which effectively trap and absorb a significant amount of sauce, earning it the nickname “the sponge”. This ensures a hearty, flavorful bite every time.
